Fourth of July, Oh My!


Ahh the Fourth of July. Let us celebrate America by drinking beer, watching fireworks and eating foods with the color scheme red, white and blue. Here are my ‘Merica style cupcakes for you to admire.

Blueberry cupcakes with buttermilk frosting

3 cups white flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

4 eggs

1 1/2 cup blueberries

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a bowl. Next, add the butter, sugar and eggs until smoothly mixed. Then add blueberries.


Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 of the way with batter and bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 minutes.


When the cupcakes have cooled off, add a dollop of frosting.

Buttercream frosting

1/2 cup butter

2 tablespoons milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

3 cups powdered sugar

In mixer, beat the butter and gradually add the milk vanilla and powdered sugar. mix until smooth.


rinse blueberries and raspberries and add to the tops of the cupcakes. Arrange the cupcakes like an American flag!
