Food Friday: Ittie Bittie Stir Fry

Image

Earlier this week I made a mini stir fry for my mom. I mean mini because it has so few ingredients and it surely cannot feed a thousand. It was a fun choice when the main meat eater of the house (Dad) is out and the lone vegetarian (me) must feed the hungry (mom).

The Wee Lil’ Stir Fry

1 cup sugar snap peas

1 cup snow peas

1 carton of extra firm tofu

1 marinade of your choice

crunchy noodles

Cut  tofu in small cubes and place in a bowl. Pour marinade over tofu and let sit for five minutes to absorb the marinade. After five minutes, add tofu and peapods in a frying pan and fry until heated. Sprinkle crunchy noodles on top and serve!

The last Weekend of August is approaching, which means the final days of summer are upon us. This specific week I find myself reliving the hot summer days, the floating in the pool and the fact that I can’t wear shorts after Labor day. I mean, I could of course, but that wouldn’t be fair to Fall, and you truly can’t wear shorts when it begins to frost now can we?

Imbibe Tuesday: The Hard Lemonade

Image

After a lengthy conversation about malt drinks on a golf course, a man suggested I should try Sand Creek’s HARD Lemonade. Obviously, I had to take him up on the suggestion and was pleased by the recommendation. The lemonade was sweet and tart with a more natural lemonade taste than Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Black River Falls has got it down for an “adult lemonade.”

Look at what I found….

So this past weekend I went to Goodwill and found a few really great finds. It’s nice to get lucky sometimes…

Image

Vintage dress with colorful skirt. Full dress look coming soon!

Vintage necklace I couldn’t resist trying on…

These Shoes. Oh man these shoes.

Maybe it’s just me, but I always feel so great when I find something totally rad from a thrift store. It’s like the jackpot at a casino after all those countless times of digging through racks and boxes.

Ciao for now!

Mary Bloody Mary

Image

Let’s say it’s the weekend at 9:05 AM and you really want a drink with your meal. You probably think “Hey, it’s probably too early for a cocktail” so you justify getting what I call the halfbreed: the Bloody Mary.

Bloody Mary

2 oz shot pepper vodka

dash of hot sauce

2 dash Worcestershire sauce

vegetable juice

Garnish: whatever you like!

With all of the “groceries” and the thick soup like juice it’s practically a meal right?  I would suggest getting a spicy vegetable juice if you want more of a kick. My garnish included breaded zucchini, green bean sticks and a cheese cube. You can add anything you like such as jumbo shrimp, grilled cheese squares, beef cubes, kale chips and asparagus.

absolut peppar vodka had more of a bite of pepper after taste compared to a spicy flavor I was hoping for. This was the only bottle of pepper vodka I could find, so if you are looking for a stronger flavor I would suggest a different brand.

Ciao for now!

Jessica McClintock Dress, DIY book clutch, Nine West pumps

I wore this dress to the homecoming dance sophomore year of high school. It used to have a pink bow on the front and pink trim until one day I decided to cut it all off for a more “mature” look.

Image

No matter what, you can rely on the little black dress to save you when all the other dresses in your closet can’t make the cut for the evening.

After months of tedious cutting and trimming, I finally finished my book clutch inspired by the designer Olympia Le-Tan. Mint green is a great color for the end of summer/beginning of fall transition.

Ciao for now!
