A Basic Guide To Dressing For An Interview

Lately I have been on the hunt. The job hunt that is. I have been searching and searching for the perfect job here in New York City. At first I am excited for the opportunity that may await when the phone rings, but as soon as I hang up the panic sets in on what I should wear. I found a few basics to keep the panic down and the style up during the first impression.

1. Solid black tights to cover your bare winter legs: {DKNY opaque tights}

2. Little black dress. Both classic and stylish: {Alice & Olivia leather cap sleeve dress}

3. Add a little color to your natural look with a pop of color: {Lancome Pink Preview}

4. The tote to carry your resume, iphone, cosmetics, wallet and other necessities: {Diane von Furstenberg color block tote}

5. The neutral heels for any dress: {Kors Michael Kors leather pump}

6. The jewelry piece to show your personality {ASOS glasses bracelet}

Have you ever seen the movie Office Space? This movie always makes me laugh, and reminds me of the interview challenge. You know, the challenge of not losing your cool over the red stapler.

A Basic Guide To Dressing For An Interview

What's Coming Out Of My Suitcase

I have only been in New York for a few days and I love it so far! The weather is much warmer than the midwest, which I was not anticipating. Here are a few things that I would enjoy popping out of my suitcase right now.

  1. Miu Miu Dog Motif Cropped Jacket (I’m dreaming of spring!)
  2. Tazo Chai Tea Latte
  3. Daily planner
  4. Lola by Marc Jacobs Eau De Parfum
  5. Muk Luks Women’s Boho Slipper Boot –

New Years Prep

New Years Eve{Photo cred here}

What will you be doing for New Years Eve? Or better yet, what will you be wearing? I love New Years because it’s the time of year when you can wear your  grandest attire without being the only one. Girls: your uniform should include sequins, satin and/or silks. Guys: pull out that bow tie and that 3 piece suite. I’m not saying you can’t be casual, but I’m saying you should probably welcome the new year with your best sequined foot forward.

My top foolishly underrated things of 2012

make up primer

When I first heard of this I thought it was yet another beauty scam, but after trying it out myself, I realized the benefits of this product. Since I have oily skin, it does in fact keep my make-up in place even into the wee hours of the night.

1. bare Minerals Prime Time Brightening Foundation Primer, 2. Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer, 3. Neutrogena Shine Control Primer, 4. e.l.f Mineral Infused Face Primer, 5. MAC Prep + Prime Highlighertravel essentials

This past year I traveled a lot to New York City or Minneapolis. What I clearly forgot during some of these trips was how cold the airport can be, and how much I would love to take a nap while I sit on this thing. Being prepared to sleep anywhere, keep warm and look cool while on your journey? perfect! (Hepburn had the right idea)

1. Gap blanket scarf, 2. Tempurpedic travel pillow, 3. Sleeping Silk Eye Mask, 4. Capitana Cardigan

cosmopolis_newsElisecosmopolis-stillThis David Cronenberg film was definitely not what I was expecting. Not only was the film interesting with its characters and their actions, but it made the audience think about this futuristic world. I was impressed with how Cronenberg portrayed the novel by Don Delillo, as well as Robert Pattinson’s performance.

vanityvanityvanityI agonized my make-up & jewelry drawer every time I looked at it. How could it be so cluttered? How did it get like this? How can I fix it? I found these pictures as inspiration for finally organizing my own vanity this past summer.

peking duckYes I am a vegetarian but this peking duck found in Flushings, NY was so tasty. It was quite the adventure to find it, since it is only a window you walk up to and pay $1 for a little bit of heaven. (So sorry little ducks but you are just so tasty…)
